Assuming his odi career is coming to a close as he has come out and criticised the selectors and coaches for 'phasing' out experienced cricketers and then suffering multiple home series defeats...

I don't think Virat has criticised selectors. In fact Viart Kohli should than the selectors and BCCI for letting him play last 4 years of test cricket. So I don't think he will criticize any Indian selector and BCCI. Would you psot some links where such statements are issued by him.

Gauti and selectors did the right thing and it required Gautam Gambhir to be selected as coach to demand the sacking of Virat Kohli who was a passenger in Tests and T20i format for long time.

The ODI team is doing great. Won all ODI matches in WC until strong Australian team played against India in finals. India won Champions trophy winning all matches. There is no bad performance in major series in ODI.

I can't remember the exact quote, but Andy is right. Kohli posted something on his social media account after retiring, criticising Ajit Agarkar for not supporting the older players.

I think most people reactly like you Adi, and dismissed it. I think he can't complain, he declined in test cricket to the point someone needed to nudge him out the door.

I agree his form had waned and he was right to be moved on 100% however gambhir and agarkars selection calls at times are baffling and make zero sense.....they need to be held accountable as well

Yes, there is no doubt some of his selections often are severely contradicting to the basics. So many blunder selection on Australia tour itself and very recent SA series in India. However, he was correct to drop Virat and Rohit from Test and T20i.

1. 3 spinners in playing 11 in ODI matches in Australia. Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.
2. 3 spinners in playing 11 in T20i matches in Australia. Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.

Some of the other major selection blunders:
1. Making Washington Sundar bat at 3 against SA in test at Eden Gardens. Lack of words to explain this.
2. Selection of Nitish Reddy. He needs to spend time in domestic cricket and improve his game.
3. Dropping Sanju Samson as opener in T20i, onyl to accomdate the new psoter boy of Indian cricket (Shubman Gill). They dropped Sanju Samson to get Shubman Gill in T20i team. Ahead of even Yashasvi Jaiswal who is clearly a better T20i batsman as well than Shubman.

Had seen Virat's brother made some statement last week which came up on some website but I ignored that piece.

Amongst so many good and bad things BCCI does, Indian cricketing body and selectors cannot be accused of not selecting older players. These are the players who have well organized PR backing which does non-stop propoganda , have massive sponsor support.

Virat and Rohit will now play in their best suited format. If they both bat well then it augurs well for 2027 WC. If they flop and India cannot make the ODI WC 2027 finals, then the selectors will be criticized severely of wasting few years to develop young talented cricketers for 2027 WC, wrong planning etc.

Excellent series for him against SA. Tops the run scoring list with 302 runs in 3 innings in format which suits him the best.
