Yes, there is no doubt some of his selections often are severely contradicting to the basics. So many blunder selection on Australia tour itself and very recent SA series in India. However, he was correct to drop Virat and Rohit from Test and T20i.
1. 3 spinners in playing 11 in ODI matches in Australia. Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.
2. 3 spinners in playing 11 in T20i matches in Australia. Varun Chakravarthy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar.
Some of the other major selection blunders:
1. Making Washington Sundar bat at 3 against SA in test at Eden Gardens. Lack of words to explain this.
2. Selection of Nitish Reddy. He needs to spend time in domestic cricket and improve his game.
3. Dropping Sanju Samson as opener in T20i, onyl to accomdate the new psoter boy of Indian cricket (Shubman Gill). They dropped Sanju Samson to get Shubman Gill in T20i team. Ahead of even Yashasvi Jaiswal who is clearly a better T20i batsman as well than Shubman.
