Will the ICC hand out any penalties i don't really know how it works?

They don't seem to care if England aren't playing

apparently if a team has to bowl less than 80 overs to an opposition, there can be no slow-over penalties.

yes, I think so for both.

Khawaja has also had a few straightforward chances go down, which adds to the feel.

Just reading Rohit's last 12 innings: since September he has scores of 6, 5, 23, 8, 2, 52, 0, 8, 18, 11, 3 and now 6.

Reached double figures only a third of the times at bat. I think even Smith is doing better than that, isn't he?

You would expect Australia to come back very strongly after being defeated in first test at home atleast. And indeed they have come back strongly and thrashed India in this test. Surely they would have liked an innings victory after the demoralizing loss at home.

Losing to Australia after having won one before at their home is acceptable. You dont win against Australia match after match at their home. But the fight was not shown in the loss. Another test ending within 3 days. :no
India batted for only 36.5 overs. Should have made Australia bowl atleast for a day and showed some fighting spirit instead of folding so quickly.

Starc was outstanding. He is one senior bowler in test cricket who continues to bowl consistenly above 140 kph. Even after so many years he has not discarded pace. Kagiso Rabada is another. Pat Cummins was down on pace in recent year, but after the loss in first test, he has increased his pace. Gets 5 wicket haul when he was under pressure after having lost first.

Well played Australia.

Another thumping win. India batted for fewer overs across their 2 innings than Australia did in their first

India 175 all out

Reddy 42

Cummins 5-57
Boland 3-51

Australia 19-0

Australia won by 10 wickets.

There are serious questions around the ageing batting of both sides.

Two tests Down Under finishing with thumping wins inside three days.

I'm (probably stupidly) starting to get a little more optimistic about the Ashes. Australia are definitely vulnerable, and England have shown that on their day they can beat anyone, anywhere. Their problem is consistency, which in a 5 match series will probably be their undoing.

Travis Head has been a clutch player for Australia. No proper defensive technique but somehow scores runs in key matches. Cost us ODI WC, WTC finals and now this test. India still hssn't found a way to avoid this trouble.

Yashasvi and Rahul needs to score. Virat depends alot more on openers facing the new ball and making it easy for him coming latter. He is unable to survive the new ball when the opening stand has not been good. Chet played 1000+ balls in last two test series in Australia, which India won. Someone has to play that long so that Virat and middle order does not have to face the new ball.

Rohit's bad patch is no surprise. Even a cm of swing creates him a lot of issues. Just not enough quality in his batting. In the team because he is a captain.

Not at all surprised Australia bounced back strongly after Perth - despite a lot of OTT moaning in the local press : they didn't become rubbish overnight. But had expected a little more fight from India . Their fragile looking batting seems a bit of a concern for their prospects in the remaining three games. But one should remember that last time they got blown away for 36 in Adelaide (and lost Kohli for the rest of the series . And we know how that all turned out)

Two game : two one sided results. Not game to try a prediction for Brisbane.

Well, that's the appetisers out of the way. Very tasty they were too - something for everyone.

Let's just hope that the next few courses last a bit longer than these two.

India had a great win there last time - and this was immediately after being routed for 36, and Kohli going home for the birth of a child.

Siraj should have very favourable memories of the Gabba - I think he may have been MotM in that one.
