The innings were longer back then (55 or 60 overs), so more time to get set before the assault, and more overs to score. Its impossible to find the information, but a video of the knock I found with the scoreboard suggests Windies added 50-60 in those extra innings, and pretty much all Viv.... so if we compare like for like, 140-150 with a worst strike in the 50 overs would have been a truer indication.

According to the NRR calculations I saw, Pakistan would need to win by 287 runs, and can't overtake NZ's NRR at all if they bat second.
