not that it means he can't play Test but not sure he is the dynamic or attacking player people think he is.

He has a strike rate of 91 in odi cricket and it has been going up

TBH going with what I see with my eye and not the stats, but at the moment as an opposition captain think you feel that you can keep hales quiet or stop him scoring.
Anyway even in ODI he is a slow starter but does score quickly when set which most people do in the white ball cricket.

Think the point still remains hales struggles to score off good balls.

Hales has always been a slow started in white ball cricket domestically, he found success with Lumb at the other end for Notts who could get the innings going. Unsurprisingly he really struggled when brought in to open with Cook and expected to play the Lumb role internationally.

Most players struggle to score off good balls, that's why they're called good balls!

Can't call it lottery pitches if the best team always wins, SA won few tosses against india and still loss and india won 2 tosses against england and still loss.

Trouble is, the number four is doing worse!

Vince has had a better series than Hales. That said whereas Hales has gotten out to good balls a few times in this series, Vince has gotten himself out every time.

That's why roy is in the team

Roy goes from ball one which allows hales a few overs to play himself in

They are an excellent opening partnership, it's looking like they could be our best odi opening partners ever

actually the good players have a smaller margin of what could be good balls, think Hales got more areas where you can say the ball troubles him although that doesn't have to be a problems since Cook really has a lot of areas where the ball troubles him or can't score runs off.

Exactly, they can't take two or three untried batsmen on tour, their short-sightedness might come and bite them in the ass.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Indeed, I was more commenting on the idea that Hales' isn't a blaster, which to those who watch domestic cricket is no suprise.

The squad to india would be interesting, I would take a slightly bigger tour party since I think you would need a 3rd opener and possible replacement for Vince, balance, plus another keeper, spinner and pace men.

England don't often carry 2 or 3 spare batsman so it would be unique but with the question marks in the team their probably would need it since it could be a long tour and new faces need to be near by.

Run rate 4.8 an over, England batsmen are in a hurry.

think someone needs to tell the English management that since I don't think hales is going to blast teams or be the attacking batsman in test like hayden etc was.

oval was crazy expensive for the game.
Was kind of good ticket sales were crap for the game so prices went down nearer to it but still it is pathetic charging 80+ for adults.
They did give discount closer to the test but still those prices shouldn't be on.
