As far as tactics I thought they were awful and baring a split second at the end of the game so would have everyone else.
He takes Carrick off at half time to make a point that the German is his new man. Apart from the own goal Carrick was linking up with Memphis beautifully.
Secondly if you're going to bring on a tall bloke for Rooney why did he bring on one of the shortest guys in the team being Hernandez?.
I'm happy they got the third goal yet also disappointed because Van Gaal has got away with one.
Lazy having 69% possession and 16 shots, ok. We missed quite a few chances. Van Gaal's fault obviously. Saved by the best player on the pitch, yeah that's usually how football works. And it's also wrong as many players had decent performances. Smalling and Blind especially are proving people wrong, albeit this opposition wasn't as good as Spurs or even Villa. I thought it was good signs going forward for United especially if we inject more pace into the team with Pedro.
Carrick was poor in the first half, he was taken off to save him. Van Gaal loves Carrick and has said so a lot that Carrick is like a coach on the pitch for him. Hernandez was brought on because he's a poacher and we needed goals, I thought that was obvious. Maybe not. You also have a poor memory if you think Hernandez is bad in the air, he is brilliant.
Fellaini was brought on as a last ditch for a goal on for Rooney who hasn't started the season well and got a goal. That in most people's minds would show that Van Gaal made a good decision to bring him on.
Maybe we watched a different game tonight. I'm happy, I think we've got a long to way to go but there are promising signs. We mainly need to get our signings right in the next two weeks.
If Pedro goes to Chelsea, we've messed up.
