Good recovery by Surrey to reach 300 odd for 6 at the close. Wouldn't be surprised if they go on to get a first innings leas. Need Kent to bat well in their second innings.

The boundaries were as small as anything that day too. From memory, Napier also made a big, quick score there in recent times. It doesn't surprise me to see over 700 runs scored in two days.

My fear for the rest of the match isn't Kent messing up their 2nd innings (although clearly that could happen), it's instead Kent trying to force a result by declaring early and giving Surrey to chase. Because at Guildford, I'd expect Surrey to then chase down what they're set.

Thanks for everything Pothas. You'll be missed. My nickname for you was apt and I will never forget it. For the last time, arise Sir Nic.

Yes, Kent, Fulton, Warne, ridiculous run chases, coming to mind.

They set a game up with us not long ago, which involved Daws and Vince scoring off Key and Northeast.

Another tenth wicket partnership eating into Kent's lead.

You can just see this last pair pick up maximum batting points for Surrey and then Kent collapsing this afternoon.

Thats some consolation, Surrey missed out on their fifth batting point by 2 runs and Kent take a slender lead into the afternoon session.

He must be ahead of Carberry now in the England test opening stakes, but still probably behind one or two others.

It should be a good game tonight. A preview of the final perhaps?

Yep, I can watch the game without worrying too much about the performance or result. Should relax the players a bit and we could be in for a couple of big scores.

Be interesting to see what target Kent set Surrey tomorrow. I reckon 500 off 40 overs would be about fair on this wicket, but I'm guessing more like 350 off 70 will be the mark which will be eminently gettable.

May not need to declare, the collapse is on, 3 wickets just fallen for the addition of 12 runs.

Three Kent wickets for 12 runs, and suddenly the prospect of Surrey facing a run chase of 320+ looks over. Might not even have to chase 250.
