A few years ago there seemed to be a few world class spinners in the CC - players who coulod run through a side & get at least 5 or 6 for less than 50 or would bowl nearly all day & get 8 for 87 off 30 overs.

Turned out to be a tedious draw after all. Northants with a run rate of 2 an over and the game will surely be called off at 5. Somerset v Lancs is a certain draw as well.

Warks complete a win that was very unlikely 2 days ago when Notts were well on top. It's victories like this that we fans have been waiting for. If the top order can start scoring runs and Woakes is not wasted by sitting watching England play we may yet have a chance at the title.

I don't think Middlesex dangled a big enough carrot to entice Northants.

Wonder if Rogers mistakenly thought ( as I did!) Northants would be prepared to chase anything given their results thus far? Although captains ( especially in div 1) tend to be conservative with declarations & don't want to risk undoing 3 days of hard work by giving the opposition a chance.

Confidence is very low and being a batsman down I think Northants were unlikely to be too gung-ho.

That makes sense. A hard fought draw probably better than risking a morale sapping defeat.

I heard something really astonishing today, namely that there will be no CC games played at Edgbaston until the 9th September. It seems Warwickshire will be on the road for two months al a baseball teams in the USA.

Really? That is ridiculous. I thought it was bad at Durham with just 3 home CC games between now and the 2nd week in September.
Let's hope the new 50 over Cup is a big success.

Middlesex set their 304 target in 56 overs. That is really not very enticing.

Very good 2nd innings chase from Warwickshire keeps them in the Championship hunt :)

Dropped I think, he's one of my favourite players, for obvious reasons, but also he's a really good guy who would make a fantastic coach I think.
