Thanks - much appreciated.

I'll have to re-post my team in a bit then.

All these random lotteries and then more random allocations mean that it all seems far too random to me now, not enough about skill of selection. The fact is that you have no say in who is in 60-70% of your squad, and then there is the added complication of whether you are unlucky enough to have drawn players who are away on IPL duty or likely to be on international duty without having any choice in the matter.

If we adopt this approach in future perhaps it would be best to just allocate all the money and have players bid for their whole squad as happens in the IPL. This current approach also places a lot of pressure on the organiser as there are bound to be people unhappy with their allocations and all this randomness is almost guaranteed to cause suspicion of manipulation sooner or later.

Potentially excellent concept and appreciate all the effort though Ian :thumb

Thanks for the feedback RD :thumb

I am already thinking ahead to next year, and one thing I knew almost immediately was that I hadn't given enough money for the initial auction :d'oh: I'd calculated the average valuation of most squads was going to be between £1.25M - £1.30M, so should have allowed most of that for the auction, meaning the majority of players in most squads would have been chosen rather than allocated.

Live and learn, I guess :)

ok - so on the batters I have Cook, Morgan, Peterson and Ponting all unavailable and Cowdery not playing as Kent are not playing. Aganthelou is also unlikely to play. So it looks like I have 2 batsmen.

I have been allocated Collingwood as an all-rounder - he stopped bowling ages ago. Last year he bowled 19 overs in the whole season. So I don't really see how he can be classed as an all-rounder, although I appreciate that the classifications have been picked up from somewhere else.

Therefore, can I include Collingwood and one of the wicket-keepers as batsmen in the XI. Otherwise I can't pick an XI, let alone subs

On the bowlers I'm struggling too - Coles isn't playing as Kent don't play this week and then I have been allocated Swann and Harmison who are unlikely to play more than a couple of matches between them all season. Woakes is also out and Higginbottom won't play so it doesn't look like there is any chance of fielding enough bowlers either.

Can I just drop out as there's not much point given how many of my allocated players just won't be playing - you could just award a walkover to everyone else? If it's a problem then I can carry on going but it really doesn't seem like there is much point.

You can swap 2 players each sunday for those not allocated and if you're after some players actively involved from the start I don't mind swapping a few as I've got my core team already from the 20 I had before.
