all that being said, England put two goals past a side that only conceded one goal in eight matches en route to winning the world cup

[Gingerfinch]

hmmm..... Gave away two freebie goals and missed a penalty in a 2-3 loss to the best team in the world

sounds like every England team for 60 years

I haven't watched it and probably won't, but I notice that the Spain manager made his changes and the subs scored 2 goals to win it, whereas Tuchel made his and we instantly lost the foothold that we had in the game

the reports i've read suggest that the England back 4 were shocking last night

Individual errors and massive holes in the back four.

We did though look good going forward and pressed well as a team.

I imagine there will be calls for TAA on Tuesday, but I'm not sure how that will solve anything defensively.... just means there will be bigger holes, because he won't be there to help and the other three will get stretched even further covering for his absence

[andy]

I thought it was a good encouraging performance....and without two individual errors we would have won the game? Going forward it was the best we have looked for some time

[andy]

Anyone watch the game last night? Wasn't a classic but a good away win a clean sheet at last! And good to see Ngoumha get a run out

[Gingerfinch]

I only saw brief highlights. Looked like it was a pretty even game until the sending off?

[andy]

Yeah it was but still threatened before it win definitely deserved not easy going to Prague

I watched the first half live and the second half this morning. I thought England looked a bit ropey before the sending off as the back 3 struggled to cope with the fast counter attacks. I say back 3 because TAA was always 60 yards up the pitch, leaving Chalobah with 2 defensive positions to fill. Anderson kept having to drop back into the right half position to help him out a bit, which left loads of space for the eventual red cardee to drive into. Once the red card came out the Czechs filled the 18 yard box and refused to come out or even stay on their feet if an England player brushed them with a sleeve, or a boot lace, or a feather, or breathed heavily close by

Fortunately for England, Gordon scored early in the second half and the game was up for the Czechs from that point onwards

Gordon and Hall looked really good together on the left hand side. TAA and Saka disappointed me on the right.... they both struggled to get into the game, so the TAA assist for the opener came out of the blue a bit.

I thought Scott and Ngumoha looked really good when they came on.

Spain hammered Croatia. It would be nice if England did the same. Modric is still there, although 10 mins seems to be all he can manage these days

If England don't thump Croatia at the weekend, I'll be hugely disappointed

[andy]

I thought modric retired from international duty after the world cup?

[Durhamfootman]

came on after 81 minutes last night..... unless it's a different L. Modric

Perisic still starts for Croatia at the sprightly age of 37

Good to see Cristiano Ronaldo continue to show the world his ego comes before everything and everyone including his national team mates.....41 years old walk away and keep whatever is left of your legacy intact

[Durhamfootman]

big baby

[andy]

Don't think anyone will see it from his point of view this time round hes so wrapped up with getting to 1000 career goals he's destroying everything he built in the meantime

[Durhamfootman]

He's always been a big baby. Not sure why this latest example surprises anyone
