I don't usually like watching Spain play football.... soporific ain't in it, but I enjoyed this game tonight. They were pretty direct whilst still keeping the ball. Pressed hard and attacked relentlessly... what's not to like?

I think everyone outside the US was supporting Belgium tonight.

Portugal and the USA both booted on the same day. Schadenfreude? You bet.

I believe that Infantile is considering a request from the Orange Turnip to suspend the 4 Belgium goals for 12 months and award a 1-0 win to the USA

after all.... they came from howling USA errors and defensive lapses, so it would be a travesty of justice to allow them to stand

There was a time, pre-Bitey man, when the winker was my bogey man, but he hasn't been for a while. He's been largely irrelevant for several years and at least 2 world cups, and his narcissistic presence has only served to help drag Portugal down to the gutter where their behaviour belongs, so as far as I'm concerned he can hang around for the next WC if he likes

Glad I didn't bother getting up for the eradication of Portugal ; but it was quite satisfying seeing USA drummed out of the tournament by an excellent Belgium team - who I think might even give Spain a fright next up...
