Disappointing. Australia batted brilliantly but England really seemed to lose their heads under the pressure after that diabolical opening spell from Bell. In truth that 150 was 25 runs light . I didn't think the Australian bowling was all that fantastic : some good stuff but also quite a lot of loose rubbish that wasn't properly punished. NSB maybe playing a bit too careful after all the early wickets , mindful of not having a lot of spare batting ? Understood that after the way the last couple of overs fell away in the semi ; but I feel she would have been better advised to take more risks and trust the unused Gibson and Dean if needed. But the bowling ... ugh. And why wasn't Ecclestone used more while the game was still salvable ?

On a side note the over rule of Ecclestone's catch by the third umpire (too late to matter , but still) was up there with the worst blunders of TV umpiring in history ! Blind Freddie could see that was a fair catch without even needing half a dozen slo mo replays :facepalm

Anyway congrats to Australia. A well deserved win . England will have to wait for another chance ; but unless they can shed this apparent fear of playing Australia that might take a while...

Wouldn't have made a difference but yeah that was a shocker! Congratulations to Australia thoroughly deserved they're a class above everyone else and they are just far too good for anyone else to compete with

Thing is though , they aren't unbeatable. Have bombed out in the last two WC events before this ...just not to England. Which is why I reckon it is a mental thing.

the foreshortening of the camera is well known, but the best view of the catch (the only bit of the final that i've seen) was from behind where it was clear that she took the ball cleanly. Presumably the 3rd umpire didn't bother with that

That side they put out yesterday under Molienux has a steeliness about them....I think they needed a new voice after healy to push them forward again...that batting line up is scarily strong and they have 9 bowling options they will continue to dominate for a long time
