Brook dropped again at midwicket from a numbskull shot.

Presume the conditions are bowler friendly. But should stay the same for the whole game. Still, it'd be good to get 180+ on the board.

Still on while Brook is at the wicket.

Duckett might say that his ball nipped in a bit and kept maybe a little low. Jamie Smith might argue his leave was good in theory as the ball did seam off the pitch, although it had been nibbling all day so leaving on that line was pretty dull. Gay got a classic new ball edge to slip from an in-outer, openers get them when a team bowl first.... But then Stokes played a no footwork dab with a gulf between bat and pad. Brook could have been out 5 times. Root lamely flicked a ball wide and short enough to have left. And if we see a worse attempt to block a ball all summer than Bethell managed, then I will be surprised... he missed it by a country mile and the ball didnt move.

The ball has done things, but its not been 122/9. Bit of low bounce here and there, bit of seam movement here and there that NZ have clearly utilised by wobble seam balls that either come in/out or go straight (Jamie Smith wicket being a good example of the result). Nothing in the way of lateral movement in the air. Odd ball maybe bounced a little more.

The real question is if the pitch stays even. Could easily see this trampolining around by day 3-4

Don't know why Robbo is celebrating. Balls under 85mphs don't count, do they?

Three in an over! Robinson must be breaking the speed gun...

Looks like the selectors questioning Robbo's fitness and attitude is really paying off.

Given that 13 wickets have fallen in under 50 overs, and given the way that the ECB have also expressed their desire to reconnect with county cricket, I wonder if England will get docked all their points for a below average pitch at Lords?
