Jhye Richardson is having a miserable day. The poor lad is clearly nowhere near 100 percent fit, he's not bowling in the same planet of pace he is capable of, looks in a permanent state of discomfort, and has sprayed balls across the entire width of West Yorkshire all day. Considering he limped out the first game, I am not sure what he is doing playing... feels like he has been served up as cannon fodder.

Sport is cruel. He looked such an exciting prospect as a youngster, but like James Pattinson, was born made of glass. Part of me wants him to run through us this evening...

Why is he even in the UK?

He played in the Ashes once Australian bowlers started dropping everywhere, so he clearly has come on a mission to show he can bowl in English conditions with an eye in forcing his way into the Ashes side. Not doing his chances any favours at the moment though.

Wonder what the position of the ECB would be on subbing him out the game. If a bowler clearly looks unfit, but from ball 1, can they be substituted?

Zak Crawley apparently got an inexplicable decision yesterday too.... to the point they couldn't work out if he was supposed to be out lbw or caught.

George Hill picks up Fynn HP.... Sussex might not mind that with 400 on the board, ball nibbled off the seam and took the edge.

Hard pitch to judge. Just when you think it looks a bit flat, White or Hill get a bit of lift or nibble off a length. Think it will play better today though, and Sussex have to bowl well.... Bairstow, Root, Lyth and Revis is a very intimidating middle order to bowl to.
