this was the first time (so I've read) in Ashes cricket that both teams started with a zero run opening partnership - now Crawley has added to this, the pressure will be on Uzzie and Weatherald.

England have had almost the perfect morning but Ollie pope is doing his best to try and undo it...lost his concentration and slashing at everything.....Lyon definitely struggling...grimacing every time he throws the ball in....Hazelwood apparently our the next test now as well... problems for Australia

Decent session for England again...didn't take too long to wrap up the last wicket and although Crawley completed his pair ( with , to be fair , an astonishing C&B by Starc !) , Pope and Duckett have had a fairly scare free partnership of 59 - playing a little less adventurously than yesterday , I think ; so presumably the PLAN is to bat for a reasonable time in this innings and give the poor old bowlers a bit of rest. Because the pitch looks to be playing rather easier than day one - though still a bit there for the bowlers - and it won't be quite so easy to bowl the hosts out second time around.

Hopefully this "modified version" of Bazball will continue...
