Durham went to Worcs yesterday and offered them a forfeiture deal to set up a final day run chase, but Worcs turned the offer down flat because they wanted to give their batters as much time in the middle and rest their bowlers ahead of their big day on Saturday

unfortunately for them, D'Oliveira collapsed in a heap bowling his first delivery of the match today and had to be helped off the pitch in some considerable discomfort, so it looks as though he will be out of the final. I have a feeling he had had a fine one day cup campaign, so if he is out, then Worcs will be much the poorer for his absence

I'm looking at the Hants match and I want them to lose, because it helps Durham next week, but........ once again Somerset have cleared out the opposition with spinners in the second innings of the game.... Only 2 overs for Overton in that innings.... 2!

Somerset are still waiting for the result of a pitch investigation into the game against Durham where 35 overs fell in 5 sessions with Leach and Vaughan filling their boots on a minefield. 4 day game over in 5 sessions and now they're up to those tricks again

Somerset won't care, because they are in no danger of relegation and have no chance of winning the CC, so they couldn't give a toss about a points penalty this season. I hope they get 2 penalties (8 points seems to be the going rate for each offence) but I'd like to see them deducted at the start of next season

Of course, Dobell suggests that Somerset should be allowed to prepare pitches where spinners open the bowling before tea on day 1... it'll help future England players facing India... blah, blah, blah... well he would say that because he's a Somerset supporter, but he would be completely wrong. You can't have 4 day games completed by tea on day 2, no matter how much the ECB and the PCA want to reduce the workload on players.
