Congrats to Root on going past Dravis and Kallis. Two giants of the game.

And Pope on the 50 of course! Capitalising on another drop from the tourists.
I always say that everybody's right.

Hundred partnership in 28 overs. So not quick.

Root goes past Kalllis/Dravid in fewer Tests. And will go part Ponting in fewer also. And also SRT, if he plays long enough.
I always say that everybody's right.

Someone on BBC posts England's top three Test run scorers have OO in the middle of their names. Augurs well for Harry Brook. Fourth is Alec Stewart.

50 for Joe.

Maybe for this game?

After a 10 over delay, India take the new ball...

Now he goes past Ponting's Tests run total.

Guess Root has to be considered an ATG.

Tea, and a superb day for England so far. And the India attack carrying a few niggles.

Looking a bit fanciful. Hundred lead though.

England haven't batted the game dead, they will more than likely need to bat again to win it. Two days is a long time though, unless India take 4 sessions out this game and put the draw on the table, it's England's to win

Special mention for Joe Root. Undoubtedly the greatest England player of my life time. Technically brilliant, a run machine.... Will we ever seen a player so classically brilliant again in an England shirt.

Always a joy to watch the lad bat.

The only England player of my cricket watching years (1977) who I feel justified in calling an ATG, rather than the qualification of an England ATG.

Was Stokes going off just a precaution to get his leg assessed, or is he back out there fighting for the cause in pain?
