The last Kookaburra round produced one win and 7 drawn matches, Middlesex setting an aggressive, sporting declaration bucking the trend.

Can we bin this pointless exercise please? I am not sure bowlers getting canned around, tailenders getting 225 not out, and having matches where average batting is rewarded are hardly doing anything to prepare our teams to play in India or Australia.

Soft English pitches with a dead ball just produces dead cricket. Rob Key does know they use the Kookaburra in Australia because the pitches are hard as concrete, right? That this trial is utterly pointless.

Second innings not much better - Sussex, Glam, Notts, Northants post over 500 in response, Yorkshire made 459, Lancs made 406/6... Durham batting purely for time, lost 7 wickets in nearly 4 sessions, so looking like a draw is the safe bet there.

Scoreboard pressure factoring at Worcester, and a couple of matches in Div 2 too.... overall, a very boring week in the championship

Yorks need 41 to win after tea. That's a weird game over in York.... I still don't know why they are playing there, unless the women are playing India there shortly.... Essex batting for so long, but so slowly. Conditions really tricky or a side shorn of confidence this season?

That's a shocking defeat for us against Yorkshire! We are in huge trouble this season batting hasn't fired at all, and cook and porter missing games has exposed our severe lack of depth in the bowling department

Kookaburra week has been a spectacular advert for CC cricket. The wives and kids will be flocking to games knowing most will be over with a sporting "cant be arsed with this anymore" handshake after tea on day 4.
