seemingly Surrey signed Shakib on a one match deal, so presumably won't be around for our game next week

Post match interview with Ryan Campbell was good - he said England gave Potts the option of sitting out this game but he wanted to play given how important it was in terms of our season.
Campbell also said that he wanted to bat first because it was a good pitch but Borthwick disagreed because it had been under covers for a day and a half so he thought day one would be good for bowling. Good call!

Wonder of that's a convenient injury or maybe just me being cynical! Suppose though if he has a problem he might as well get it sorted as soon as possible.
Let's hope all the bats are measured properly for these last two games and a road is prepared for the last home game.

I don't think they'll do that..... at least not intentionally. I think they'll be very confident they can beat Kent and will hope to finish higher up the table.

Back to the dukes ball thank goodness, although the Aussie ball didn't slow Pottsy down. Maybe that will get Key doubling down on it. Doubtless he'll cite 9-68 as an England bowler learning how to get more out of it and be very pleased with himself

You were right about Borthwick, out for the season with Lees taking over as captain and , presumably, Gay replacing him at number 3.
My thoughts on a road for Kent were about avoiding points deductions! You're right though we should be confident of beating them so a regular pitch should do.
It'll be interesting to see how Surrey respond to their bad week, pressure is on them now.

Both Currans ( and Dan Lawrence ) in Surrey's squad. I assumed Sam would be in the ODI squad.
Ollie Pope isn't in either squad.

Apparently so!
He was playing last week and I wondered why he had made a comeback.
At least they haven't managed to extend Shakib's one match deal. There was a sarcastic comment on x/twitter following their T20 defeat suggesting they should have signed Travis Head on a one day loan.

Wonder why Pope isn't playing this game? Not that I'm complaining because I think he has a ridiculously high average at The Oval.
