Despite the eyes of the world on the West Indies and America, I place this month's best player as a Yorkshire Woman. Hollie Armitage played 6 games in June and delivered with either bat or ball in four of them. She got 3 half centuries.....one a whisker away from the ton and also got a threefer in a match against the Sunrisers. She finishes the tournament as the second highest run scorer and will graduate from the England A team very shortly one would think.

Gus Atkinson is my nod for Cricketer of the Month this week. Just when it was beneficial for his national team for a fast bowler to put in a good showing, the debutant did just that.

With 12 wickets in his debut test he bagged the fourth best figures of any debutant in Test history. He then got another 10 across the other two tests at am average of 16.22

A real one for the future.

Joe Root for me. Massive massive part of the (very probable) Test win against Sri Lanka. Has masked the loss of Ben Stokes and some of the other weaknesses in the England performances. Became the 81st person to score two centuries in a Test match today which helped him become the country's highest century scorer and is comfortably going to score the most run in this series after having done the same in the West Indies series. A Root Summer.

Left field one but David Bedingham is my man.

Averaged 101.33 across his 6 innings this month - this average could have been even higher if it were not for a score of 7 in a One Day game against Sri Lanka A. Highlights includes 188 in the final game with South Africa A followed by 279 for Durham against Lancashire. Finishes his debut County Championship Division One season as highest run scorer with nearly 200 runs between him and second placed Dean Elgar.

Not a household name yet but Ismat Aslam could become Afghanistan's premier all-rounders in the next 12 months. Has had a phenomenal October. Started poorly with 31 in 2 innings but then followed that up with scores of 263, 154 and 111. He finished the highest scorer in Afghanistan's 4 Day Tournament. Add to that 8 wickets including one 6-fer. The 22 year old has a very bright future.

After a slow start to his international career, Ayub has shown his all format potential in December. He scored 465 runs in 9 innings.

Ayub's biggest impact with the bat came in the three ODIs where he scored 235 runs in just 3 innings with the help of two brilliant hundreds.

The 22-year-old spinning all-rounder also made a (minor) impact with the ball. He took 3 wickets in December; two in ODIs and one in the Boxing Day Test.

Has partly solved the issues with Pakistan LOI batting lineup. In tests too I think he showed in SA test, that he is looking to change his approach to suit test cricket. Feel he will be a better player than his records suggest.

Jasprit Bumrah for me. 30 wickets in 4 tests in Australia. He's had one of the best ever tours by a bowler there.

Yes, Jasprit has had an outstanding series. Need to have him in the fight for POTM. Two options nominated thus far. Any other cricketer who can be considered ?

My shout is Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan who has started the year in true multi-format strength who became the first bowler since 2007 to register back to back Test tenfers in his first game of the season versus Zimbabwe. He then has gone to his beloved short form cricket and snaffled 9 wickets across 8 games with best figures of 2-28 against Paarl Royals. Really is a cricketer for all seasons.

Mine would be Amelia Kerr, I think, for almost identical reasons. A phenomenal test, followed by runs, wickets and catches in the shorter stuff. If she don't get you with the bat, she gets you in the field
