McCann got a duck today. I should bloody think so too..... I watched the highlights and his first 25 runs yesterday consisted of 5 or 6 genuine edges on both sides of the bat that evaded slips and stumps to run to the boundary. He might be happy about his maiden fifty, but he could have been out half a dozen times without some outrageous good fortune.

Just membered that Carse is available from the next game. His ban is up the day before we play Somerset. Whether he is match ready is another matter.

well these 2 have added 80 in 45 overs

I was hopeful at 99-4, but less so at 184-4

new ball is due and there are 7 overs left in the day, so we need something to happen tonight and then hope we get a bit of play tomorrow, but the outcome of this match looks as if it will be decided by the weather and we need to hope that the forecast is unduly pessimistic

Those two wickets with the new ball were crucial. Forecast suggests not much play after lunch so we probably have a session to get the last 4 wickets. Wouldn't surprise me if they're 9 down when the heavens open!
We definitely have a weakness in the bowling when conditions are good for batting. If Wagner had been bowling it'd almost certainly have been game over by now.

a very quick glance at the bbc live reporting and it sounds as though we've put a few down catches today. Borthwick dropped two in the slips off Hogg, I think, before finally clinging onto the edge off Montgomery

I've just watched him drop Slater on 19, who went on to use up 113 deliveries. I don't know about the other drops.

Yes, think he looks like a good prospect.
I thought Borthwick did well with him yesterday- took him off after 3 very expensive overs and then brought him back when they were 6 down and under pressure - that seemed to settle him down.
