but here's the thing.... by sheer good fortune, we have neither Bas nor Carse available to throw away 30 odd runs in 2 overs, so if we ever learn how to score more than 5.5 runs an over, we'll reduce what must by now be a yawning great negative run rate..... we won't win any games, but hey ho... winning's for people who can't get all the satisfaction they need from a good book

of course, we'll probably think that Glover might make a good replacement

and btw.... where the *modded* is McKinney? I know he's not injured because he was a sub fielder on Saturday

I heard Marcus North say that one of our problems is that we have hardly any players who ply their trade all winter in the franchise competitions...... I wonder why that is?

One thing I don't understand is how we've been so bad in this competition for ever. Every squad of players over the years - even when they've excelled in the other formats - have been pretty hopeless at T20. You'd think the law of averages would mean at some point in the past 20 years we'd have had a decent outfit.

there's a part of me that thinks we sometimes try to be too clever by half. The last 2 games Raine has come in at 4 or 5. Now it was explained tonight that it's to keep left and right hand combinations to make life harder for the bowlers.... but he just isn't a 4 or 5 batter, so what's the point? Ben McKinney is a left handed top order batter, so if we only bat down to 5 (at best) anyway and we want to keep right and left handers together, then why isn't he playing?

What I'd give for another Phil Mustard. Whenever he was at the crease T20 felt like the easiest game in the world to watch and when he wasn't, it felt like the hardest
