ECB statement mentions a " significant number" of Surrey's squad had been deemed close contacts. I wonder how that works? If Carse tested positive towards the end of The 100 how come his team mates Potts and Raine weren't deemed as close contacts but virtually the entire Surrey squad are close contacts because one player tested positive?

well there are 24 dead rubbers between now and the BWT, so I imagine only the people who have to pay money to attend cricket matches will be interested in getting full value

According to The Times the reason this match is off is because there wasn't sufficient time to test the players deemed as close contacts of the one who has covid!
Apparently the counties have complained about the protocols especially as positive tests during The 100 didn't result in any cancellations.

Yes , she's the only one who seems keen on probing the bizarre inconsistencies. Presumably the final placings this year will impact on the groupings next season ( think I read somewhere the BWT is likely to return for at least one more year) so it's not as if the points on offer in these division 2 and 3 games don't matter.

Probably no hardship to have the Sorry game cancelled. Weather has been toss anyway. More of the same tomorrow i think

Could hardly have gone better. The only downside was Jones missing out on a hundred- all 3 wickets came as a surprise. If we can start well in the morning maximum batting points should be achievable, even if there's a wobble the lead is already probably a match defining one.

Hard to remember a more dominant performance- had a poor 1st hour or so yesterday but totally on top since the 2nd wicket fell. Barring something extraordinary it will be a maximum points win.

If Douthwaite bowls a few more overs he will reach his century. Every now and then there seems to be something for the bowlers but I can't fathom how Glamorgan were out for under a hundred. Although I think they batted terribly in the previous game because it barely went into day 3.
