The beautiful game!

Hard to tell whether Germany are spooked like England were when Scotland came to town, or are just sizing things up before the 2nd half.
"Stats are there to be broken" Dominic Cork
"They took all our players away, banned our captain and we still came away with a ten-wicket victory" Jason Gillespie
"You won't get anywhere slouching about half out of bed" Geoffrey Boycott

England might as well be playing for penalties here. Which might fit Einstein's definition of insanity, given what usually happens when they get them.

Decent Football has done the job. Sterling has been excellent today and deserved that.

Does anyone ever score for England apart from Sterling?

Not really traditional not to be knocked out by Germany.

Brilliant piece of reverse cursing , Arthur :)

See if you can produce a well timed goal in Rome too , eh ?

I thought it was a very mature performance from England.

I bet Sterlings heart was in his mouth with that miss pass he did:) A german missing that.....

4 games and no goal conceded. England is doing alright.

Gareth seemed to have a plan and once again it came off. :salute

Pragmatic from England and nothing wrong with that.

Don't really care how it happened, we won! At least it wasn't penalties...

What's the mood? Is it 'we can win the whole thing', or 'we'll do a typical England and follow up a great result with a meek exit against a team we should beat?'

Sweden v Ukraine has been surprisingly fun. Both times rattled the wood work. Both teams at times have looked more likely to take it.

But looks like its Ukraine who might win it now; absolute horror challenge from Danielsson ends with a red card. Its studs up into the knee.... Ukrainian player has been carried off, hope hes alright... the knee is not supposed to bend that way. Ugly

As for England.... great result. Germany looked pretty average, and England did what was required while seemingly still not in top gear or their best asset playing his top level, even if he scored. Thought we gave Germany way too much respect and just didnt have enough bodies forward for a lot of the game, then Southgate finally decided to put his best attacker on the pitch, and England not long later have scored two goals with him involved with good passes in both.

But Southgate will no doubt play Tyrone Mings on the wing next game rather than start Grealish.
