And now Borthwick has a wicket. They're effectively 1 for 5 - needless to say we have to stay on top of them now.
Be ideal to get rid of Wheater before he tees off.

Walter and Harmer hanging on for Essex

we mustn't let them do to us what we did to them

First sign of bad light and the umps will call time, I reckon... they won't do to them what they did to us

Scores in the match are trending up, so might be ok batting last. If you ignore Essex having Grievous Bodily Harmer.

Not sure that name works for a spinner.

:lmao
I'm sure we'll wrap it up with the minimum of fuss
Seriously though I have a feeling getting those 4 wickets and then reaching the target could well be tricky. Emmerson's co-commentator has written Essex off but I haven't.

I had a bit of the stream on this afternoon and he kept saying how Ben Carse was a more effective change bowler than any of the Essex ones! Eventually Emmerson corrected him.

It would be foolish to write a team as powerful as Essex off but Durham are undoubtedly in the driving seat. The way Durham's tail played Harmer indicates that there's not much in the wicket for him. It's forecast overcast tomorrow and the New ball is due in 11 overs which is an entirely different scenario than this morning. Also Durham's batting has great depth. Mustn't count chickens,however..
And that irritating commentator isn't present tomorrow...
Steve Borthwick was a rugby international wasn't he?

definitely mustn't count any chickens

If Essex do before lunch today, what we did yesterday, then it would be all too easy to slip to a defeat if a bit of panic was to set in

There's a reason that Essex have been champions for the last 2 years

However it's ours to win or lose, not theirs

There's the added complication of the suspension in play for Prince Philip's funeral. Let's hope it's wrapped up before then.

Harmer out 3rd ball of the day, but no joy since. Lead is 77. We have taken the new ball

Been out walking and I had a feeling they'd still be batting! Walter finally gone so hopefully the end is nigh - must be excellent batting conditions so it shouldn't be a problem knocking off the runs. :scared

They're lingering..... 22 overs since the new ball was taken

I don't like it when teams linger

lead is up to 120 and Allison has 38

I've been out looking at a car and I expected us to be batting when I got home not still having 2 wickets to take
