for his first 80 runs he was excellent. He looked to score rather than just sitting back, he was quick to scamper singles and turn ones into twos. He even ran a four. It wasn't until the later part of his innings that he started to look less comfortable. He had trouble with Sam Cook, kept nicking him off, then there was 3 or 4 balls of a Harmer over where he was completely bamboozled, but what he kept on doing was punish the bowlers whenever they fluffed their lines

Young was the perfect foil for him, because he looked comfortable defending and there were no real alarms for him until he inexplicably turned the ball straight into the hands of a grateful Lawrence at leg slip. Everybody else looked all at sea. It was a thoroughly classy performance from Borthwick in extremely difficult batting conditions
