Not sure test cricket will be the immediate focus. I think they'll muddle along with this sort of white ball test team until the end of the T20 WC next year, so if we want to target the next ashes, then we'd better hope the T20 is early in the year.
The ECB don't have a clue what they are doing, so my guess is they'll look around world cricket until they identify the highest earning coach and buy him in. I've heard Kirsten's name mentioned... but all of these people are on the same merry go round, each taking turns with all the teams. Collingwood would be the bold move so that'll frighten the living daylights out of the ECB, but then they could also get him on the cheap, which would interest them greatly. He won the T20 WC as captain and that it's now back on the agenda again, might strengthen his case........ but ultimately some Sir Humphrey character behind the scenes saying "that's very brave" will scare them off and they'll go for the safe expensive option, whoever that is
If he fancies sticking his head above the parapet again, don't rule out Flower, btw
