Got the bowling at their mercy. Can get what they want and choose the time for the declaration. Unless the rain is more plentiful than the general predictions they've got this one in the bag. England don't save draws these days.

The innings scores are going up as the match goes on. Might mean a draw isn't inconceivable?

Lyon will be key.

There was talk of rain tomorrow.

Wade justifies my faith in him. Been pushing for Australia to recall him for years...... :coat

ah well..... here we go

England can't bat a day to save a test match, so safe to chalk this one up as a heavy defeat from a position of strength, I feel. This is what happens when one sides middle order only has 50 runs in it and the other has 300.

and what happens when our gun bowler breaks down 4 overs after declaring himself fit and raring to go.

It will be interesting to see if Lyon goes for a daddy gallon on the final day, or if he tears the England line up apart

Pleasant surprise to wake up and find Australia still batting (and declare a few overs later).

398 to win for England. Well done, Aus. England not cope with the loss of Anderson too well?

Chances are, England will lose. But it shouldn't be beyond them to bat the day out. They bat down to nine. If they don't play the ball when they don't have to (possibly in to the end of them liking to feel the ball on bat because it's the way they play) then they can save this game. It's only six hours.

made it to COP without loss

Will Roy put his flashing blade away?

Will Buttler and Bairstow manage to get to double figures?

Will Moeen remember which end of the bat he has to hold

all will be revealed

I heard earlier that Burns will have batted on all five days of this test, once he faces up tomorrow. Last England batsman to do this was Flintoff, in (?)2006.

I remember Boycott doing it in 77. Can't imagine Flintoff batting long enough to do it.

Yep, hes one of the very few players who have done it in India. Came in late on day, came back on day 2 but it p*ssed it down straight away, came back on day3 and got out... was back at the last few balls of day 4, and therefore came out to start day 5

It was Mohali. It was a grim game for England and they were clueless against Kumble. Flintoff got 70 and 51. I went to that game and got mocked out of the ground by about 20 kids. Still, England had just won the Ashes.
