Presumably if an announcement is imminent it's only red tape delaying it. The Aussies mentioned should already have visas sorted as they were all potential members of the ashes squad.

Excellent point. I didn't think of that but they must have visas.
So it suggests either someone from that party will replace Bancroft for T20 and Championship or Short is staying until the end of the season with one of them teaming up with him in the T20.
A 4 day captain will be required, not sure Lees will be keen or if it's a good idea to burden him with it given he seems to have found his old form. Think I'd go with Eckersley.

Cricinfo story on Bancroft refers to him having a contract with Durham cancelled last year and reinstated for this season.
That's wrong isn't it? Think it was Somerset who signed him and then dropped him.

Will Handscomb's appointment mean that Poynter will make way, with Short taking over the captaincy?

I wouldn't want to burden Rushy with either, for the same reasons, so I think I would too

besides we need to get him to sign a new deal, so that would wrap things up nicely

Could be a good option.

reading the article, it looks as though Short will only be with us for the Dribble and Handscomb will stay with us until the end of the season.

We'll need a new opener, of course and the experiments at the start of the season didn't work, so perhaps we need to try something new and bring Scott Steel in to open alongside Lees. It feels to me as though he's earned the opportunity. Handscomb is described as a middle order bat, so I hope he's good at coming in in the first 5 overs

First overs! :lmao
He's playing today- looks to be in for Clark and is playing as a batsman only - down to come in at 5 after the Great Leader!

Very strong rumour that Richo has left the club. If so, he goes with my best wishes and hope the club posts a suitable farewell tribute.
His eligibility for Germany incidentally is through his German mother.
