And also ominous for him to be injured just a few days after signing a contract extension!

Is the identity of the T20 captain tomorrow a state secret? Just over 24 hours to go and there's no mention of it-unless Colly is going to make a comeback when he turns up with Stokes and Wood!
It'll have to be someone who could potentially do the whole tournament because if Bancroft doesn't come back the 'contingency' plans that they supposedly have presumably involve a re placement player but it would be a big ask for whoever it is to be replacement captain as well. Unless Latham is available and I've a feeling he is not.

I think the intention is/was for Bancroft to be captain but now a new, possible interim, captain is required. I can understand the hesitancy in that respect but, nevertheless, we need a captain for tomorrow. Mind it was about 9pm on the eve of the Worcs game before that squad was announced.

Yep. They like to leave things late! I think the likelihood is Bancroft will be back because he probably won't be in the team for the first test even if he's in the squad and in that case he'd be better off playing for us rather than waiting in the wings.

According to Martin Emmerson Poynter is the stand in captain!

Squad vs Northants Steelbacks & Lancashire Lighting (19/21 July)

Scott Steel, D’Arcy Short, Chris Rushworth, Ben Raine, Brydon Carse, Jack Burnham, Liam Trevaskis, Matthew Potts, Graham Clark, Ryan Pringle, Alex Lees, Stuart Poynter, Nathan Rimmington

Presumably they made the decision on Poynter before the members forum this week. I wonder why they didn't mention it?

Yep. If he returns! Or maybe they know something we don't- all 25 players involved in the warm-up game surely aren't in genuine contention.

More significant are the omissions.
Doesn't seem much of a future for Harding, Richo, Weighell and Whitehead.

Be interested to hear what kind of attendance turns up tonight for this round of games. Fresh of a world cup win, bit of public attention on the game, Friday night game.....

Anyone going fancy reporting on it later

I'm going - or at least planning to. There is however a slightly dodgy weather forecast, rain expected this afternoon but opefully it'll clear up in time for the game.

and actually, this is a good place to see if there has been any WC 'bounce', because our T20 attendances are not usually that startling
