I think it might have been for financial reasons. Suspect him and Raine were two of their highest paid players.

Great Q & A with Rushy. Admire him even more now that he admits he can't stand Piers Morgan and Kevin Pietersen.

Heard that Raine got offered more money by Essex but chose Durham. Are you listening Stoneman and Onions?

I think that's right because I remembered reading div 1 counties were after him but he wanted to come home.

Forgot to mention this - when I was chatting with corkball and southwood the other day, sw mentioned seeing Grant Flower at the ground. I saw Flower yesterday and he was coming out of the nets chatting with somebody I didn't recognise.
I think Flower is still Pakistan batting coach so wonder what he was doing.
Wondered if he'd be involved in the T20 coaching but there was no mention of that at the forum.

Grant Flower was still in post as batting coach for Pakistan during ODIs v Australia in April. That wouldn't necessarily preclude him from holding a coaching clinic at the Riverside. Certainly seemed to be a lot of presumably academy players toing and froing from the nets on Monday and Tuesday.

Yes, that sounds highly likely.

Woody out for 4-6 weeks with a side strain picked up in the final on Sunday. Puts his ashes at risk, because he probably won't be available until the 4th test

Very unfortunate. Only saving grace is it's not the ankle again.

It's surely now fact that Wood's body can't stand up to 4 or 5 day cricket. His future lies as a T20 specialist.
