Play suspended at Oval because " a metal tipped arrow has just landed on the pitch".

Bizarre! Apparently there was an announcement that the security team instructed the crowd to take cover.

Seems as if the arrow was fired from outside the ground.

12 in the match for Porter. One to get for Essex. Quite imperious in the end.

Play abandoned. Seems an overreaction to me but I suppose these days any suspicious incident has to be taken seriously.
Apparently Borthwick was brought on for his first bowl of the match just before the suspension ...bowled one ball and it went for 4!

Crossbow bolt apparently. Armed police now at ground so obviously being regarded as a serious incident.

Still doesn't top the over-reaction (which also included armed police) to a toy lion being spotted by the Rose Bowl a few years back, with people believing for quite a period of time that it was a real lion!

I do like Finn, Wood and Ball, but I struggle to justify those players being ahead of Porter right now - especially the first two.

There's a tendency to take at least one too many seamers on overseas tours (just in case), so as I said earlier, Porter surely must have some sort of a chance.

He has to certainly be in the reckoning IMO...a few years ago chelmsford was a green seamer, but not anymore, generally a decent track for batting, and he has performed extremely well, a real talent!

Seven wins and three draws is very impressive for Essex after ten games. 36 point cushion.
