Depends how you define "own". If they aren't poached from other countries they tend to be S. African or products of the independent schools with strong cricketing traditions e.g. Whitgift, Cranleigh etc who will have predominately provided their cricket development.

Yes, they should be doing better in expanding their base- with all of their resources they should be held to a higher account than other sides.

Glamorgan weren't joking when they said they would rest players this week ahead of Finals Day. Not sure how happy I would be if I was a fan of Worcs, Northants or Kent.

Early signs already that Essex, unsurprisingly, are not the same side without Cook and Westley.

But with points on the board and a strong bowling attack, I'm not sure it'll matter. (And besides, it's possible that the two of them will be back for the end of the season anyway)

Amir being unable to bat - and presumably therefore unable to bowl - throws an interesting spanner into things.

Lead of 288. Something like 60 overs to bowl.

Middlesex in big trouble against Surrey, lead by only 68 and have 4 wickets left and one of them is Compton who has a back spasm and might not be able to resume his innings.

I know it's the top two sides in the league who they are being/have been thrashed, but it's still not good at all for Warks or Somerset. They play each other next week - and surely neither can settle for a draw.
