I'd file that under a batting failure for Yorks. Surrey had a stronger side on paper and a pretty good attack, so it was what I was expecting. Well done to them.

Take Sangkarra away from the Surrey team and their batsmen were nothing special, he made batting look ridiculously easy.

Batting wasn't particularly easy in the innings chase, outfield slowed down noticably and the pitch gripped more. Surrey's pace bowling attack were on the money with consistent line/length bowling, speeds in excess of 80mph and great use of the yorker at the end. Yorkshire were simply a batsman and bowler light to ever had a realistic chance of winning against a full strength Surrey side minus Jason Roy.

At Headingley half the ground closed and the other half about 25% capacity - lucky if there's 2000 present for a quarter -final cuptie. Should be worrying how they're going to sell out test matches on a regular basis to service that £40 million debt. A warning sign Yorkshire will no doubt ignore. Is Boycott's concern about the level of debt coming home to roost?

Advance ticket sales for the T20 Blast already up on last year alone along with strong ticket sales for the West Indies test is a better indicator of the clubs financial health.

Playing a cup knockout match in midweek in front of Sky Cameras and fielding a weakened squad is always going to be a difficult sell, i'd say crowd was roughly 3000 despite this. It wouldn't surprise me if more fans turned up to the Surrey County Championship day/nighter with the England players turning out. I overheard someone in the stands his brother took his son to a Yorkshire game and was disappointed that none of the England players were in action, maybe if they played more county cricket than folk would go to Headingley more often.
