And what a fantastic innings by Dan Lawrence -tremendously mature performance by a 19 year old.

Good that young players are still able to grind out an innings in the era of T20.

Just had a terrible thought, Jeetan Patel is likely to be lost to Warwickshire during the Champions Trophy and any warm up games NZ have planned.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

He's already in their ODI squad for the tri-series with Bangladesh and Ireland next month.

The added bonus that it's a non test venue county producing another up and coming player, certain test venue counties could learn a thing or two about producing talent.

Some interesting clashes in this round of county games, in DIV 1 Warwickshire take on Yorkshire and both will want to win and put the memory of the recent defeats behind them. Hampshire have a visit from last years winners Middlesex and it will be interesting to see if last weeks excellent win by Hants was the real deal.
All eyes will be on the big game at Chester-Le-Street where Durham have a visit from Nottinghamshire the warm favourites to head the DIV 2 table. I believe these two only meet this once so that adds extra importance to the game. A win for Durham would be a great boost to their team.

Tend to want Notts to do ok as my adopted home (appointing data-peta is testing me) but I'm supporting Durham for the season, and them going up would be pure blockbuster, so hopefully the northerners can get off to a winning start. Notts look strong though.

Weather for Durham looks to be dull and dour ideal for bowling? Apparently can get in for £5 a real bargain.

I was surprised when Lancashire chose to have a toss and then chose to bat, they are paying a high price for that decision, being three down in the first hour.

Warwickshire lose both openers early once again.
