losing de Kock and Duminy basically screwed their whole team balance

They still have Corey Anderson. Just back from injury but he's miles better than Brathwaite. Also missing Iyer who will be back in a few matches.

Brathwaite is massively overrated with both bat and ball! Rarely comes off with the bat, and always goes round the park with the ball!

thats still just papering over the cracks of losing the quality of a de Kock as your opener tho

Of course, but many other teams have injuries too. Look at the state of that RCB line up, yet they still won today.

At the very least they can select the best XI that they have available.

dehli always looked a bit light on batting and looked to have gone for too many all-rounders in their squad, losing de Kock and Duminy just exacerbated that problem

surprised they didn't look to get someone like Hales who wasn't bought in the auction to replace de Kock

cant remember if Billings was given the OK to stay for the whole tournament or whether he comes back for the Ireland games

if they lose him too for a few games at the end then getting off to a bad start is even worse

I wonder I feel there are too many voices in the Pune dressing room; Smith, Dhoni and Rahane all with captaincy experience. Dropping Zampa doesn't seem like a very Smith-like decision.

First match of the day is SRH versus Gujarat Lions at Hyderabad.

SRH have the best bowling attack of all franchisees.

Gujarat have a below average bowling unit. They have to drop one of Jason, Finch and Smith and replace with a specialist foreign pacer. They only have Andrew Tye. Faulkner is option but then to cover up the very weak bowling it is better to use a specialist. Smith has had success with Big Mac as opening pair for CSK. Their squad has no depth in pace bowling department. Should have had better foreign specialist pace bowlers.
