They bought him because he scored 70 against Rajasthan in a practice match when IPL was in UAE.
I had never heard of him to be honest. He doesn't even get in the UAE squads anymore. Waste of money but good for that kid.

still an odd pick considering at the time half the franchise didn't even know if he was UAE national or eligible as an Indian.
Believe dual citizen can play as a local player in the IPL, only two examples though Nayan Doshi and the kenyan batsman that I forgot the name off.
yeah good for the kid, but says a lot about the franchise auction that they didn't really know what they were doing.
