i was hoping we would at least put up a bit of a fight but this barely reaches the level of a whimper

Pathetic.

Well done by Ashwin, but moronic batting by England.

Anderson won't last long.

This Test was handy given my current inability to sleep, but now I've got to find something to do at 04.30 in the morning.

24 fifers in 43 matches for Ashwin. About the same ratio as Murali.

Ten (+) in the match for Ashwin. Always a fine achievement. Appropriate the Ravis are on together as India win the series.

Twelve for Ashwin. Congratulations to him and India and fans for a comprehensive win.

Very dead rubber in prospect at Chennai.

More changes for Chennai? If Hameed is fit, I'd be tempted to bring in him for a seamer.

Kohli and Yadav turned the game. A first innings lead for England of about fifty added to the 200 England might have got, could have set up a great conclusion the the game. Instead the pair turned the game into a huge defeat. So King Kohli POTM for me, even though I don't like that batters usually get it.

He's out of the series. England's bench strength isn't encouraging.

He won't be fit. He's having finger surgery.

Still, there does seem little point in continuing with six bowlers if you're not going to use them. Useless third spinner or unused fourth seamer - England have been playing with 10 men. That said, we theoretically bat to 9 or 10 in all these games, and it hasn't made any difference. England could bring in another specialist batsmen, and they still won't keep India out on this evidence.

Batty, Dawson, Finn, Duckett, Ballance.

Broad may be fit, but no point hurrying him back. If he's fit he plays though.
