I believe somewhere in the region of 4 to 5

Just checked scorecard. Shocking that pacers are bowling more overs than spinners here.

Pace bowled well though only really stokes bowling was questionable and he didn't bowl much.
Could only really think of woakes bowling less but don't think he bowled many overs after pujara got hit either.
Guessing they wanted pace from one end and spin from the other which wasn't a bad strategy with the way broad and woakes were bowling.
Rashid could have bowled more.

On batting friendly pitches, I think pacers are best to operate in short, sharp bursts, and really bowl as quick as possible. The only part of this game where you felt the bowlers were getting the upper hand was after Stokes got Pujara, after which they sent down 8 overs where concentration and effort levels were heightened, and Broad got some movement away from the right hander, and more importantly, got Kohli looking a bit uncomfortable. By memory he caught Kohli attempting to pre-empt playing forward and sent a good short ball that bounced a little more, and Kohli was lucky to get the ball down. And he also forced Kohli to edge through the slips. Just that little bit of extra effort, and you start to make things happen. I think those building blocks turned the momentum and you end up getting a tired batsman making a mistake at the end.

Yet Cook seems to throw his spinners on, gets bored of both and puts the seamers on, then goes to both spinners..... Id personally have picked one less spin option, had 3 pacers, a main spinner and a back up, and would be rotating my paceman at one end for 3 over bursts on the instructions they bowl as quick and nasty as they can.

250 runs in a day was once quite normal. Feels slow these days.

Was it an interesting day or a turgid one?

lol Willis is an idiot saying Vijay doesn't know how to bat away from home lol.
scored centuries in Australia, England and one of india solid bats.
Didn't actually fail much in the last overseas cycle either.
Pujara yes got a technical flaw, he would have struggled today on a quicker deck with some movement, in seam/in swinger and shorter balls to the ribs gives him big issues.
not sure I will class Vijay as a home track bully though.

Found it quite turgid, only few spell was quite interesting.
The one where pujara was struggling and the last 30-40 mins.
middle session was quite turgid with india seeing of a tough spell from broad and Rashid.

the biggest positive for England today was the spinners they didn't release the pressure at all today and they could easily been expensive today and india could have scored 50-80 runs more today which would more than likely put them in the driving seat of winning the game.

yeah most of the test was a snorefest actually was surprising Botham find it interesting, thought he would at least not like it with him generally been a fan of quick finishes and playing golf and doing something else rather than watch cricket.

Think tomorrow is the first day that people can actually wake up and enjoy a good interesting session.

Saying that Vijay must be one of the most underrated cricketers in the world doesn't seem to get the credit in India or worldwide which is quite baffling really considering he right up there with the best opener at the moment in world cricket.
only really Cook or Warner can claim to be better and I probably take Vijay over Warner.

Can't think of many underrated cricketers than him.

Averages 60 Aus
Averages 40 in England
46 in india
only really failed in NZ,WI and you expect that to improve.
looked decent in SA as well although only averages 29, from what I saw in SA and NZ thought he should have been given time in england and not be like the fickle indian fans that wanted him dropped before the 9 test in England/Aus.

Not sure india got the players to actually drop a player that can leave the ball, patience to score big runs and the technique to score from short balls and the moving ball.

Bit surprised anyone actually thought england would get reverse swing, I know india got it to reverse but with kohli in charge they been quite good at getting the ball to reverse and majority of the time commentators have been baffled how india got the ball to reverse against NZ and against WI.
with the conditions at rajkot was always going to be a tough ask for england getting the ball to reverse especially broad not that confident before the test match of getting the ball to reverse.
