I've got no complaints with this wicket. No point preparing a green seamer - we'd have dropped a sack of batting points, and Durham have Onions and Co. So it had to be spin really, and indeed it has turned since day one.

The issue is arguably that we don't actually have a good spinner. Same for Durham. Dawson is a very solid second spinner yes, but Crane has had a shocking season. Whether this is just a set back season in what will be a great career for him, and whether just season was just beginners luck, who knows. But if you put Somerset on this pitch, or Surrey maybe, and I think you'd have seen a better bowling performance.

We're probably relegated in the next half an hour, if either we haven't taken these two wickets or Warks haven't lost at least three of their final five wickets.

I think we were relegated an hour ago. We will not get anywhere near taking 12 Durham wickets from here.

Play out the draw and say goodnight.

At least we might win more than two games next season, and maybe get off to a half decent start.

I'm fed up with struggling against relegation every season.

And the side with the lowest bowling points tally in division duly cap off the season by dropping another one. And that from having the opposition 186-7, with 53 overs to take the two further wickets to get the final point.

There's still a fair chance of a Durham collapse on the final day, any half decent target might be tough to get.

Is this right....

if Hants draw to finish on 160 and Lancs win to leave Warks on 160 then Hants stay up for 3 losses compared to Warks 4 losses ?

So , c'mon Lancs!

This has to go down as the worst season I can remember in a long time.

Relegation and not making the knockout stages of either cup competition.

No decent youngsters coming through and a few older guys coming to the end of their careers.

The futures looking dim.

Correct. But given the scores so far in that match, I'd suggest that Warks have enough already.

Agree, apart from the no decent youngsters. Alsop has had a great season, and Wheal has looked good in recent weeks. And Topley is still very young.

And beyond that, McManus and Crane can't be written off yet.

Just have to hope that the wages saved on the likes of Wheater and Tommo are invested well, particularly in an opening batsman.

All out. Lead of 50. Not much, but something.

116 overs bowled, they started on 83, so we've had 33 today. Plus two lost for the change of innings. That leaves 45 overs today (out of the reduced 80). Bat at 5 per over gives us a lead of 275 at the end of the day.

Agree Alsop and McManus show promise, yet to convinced about the bowlers though.

They might progress better in division two, div one might be a step to high right now.

Given that I can't see us pulling out with a 275 lead with a whole day left, and most likely will go on for an hour tomorrow, I wouldn't be surprised if it's more a case of going along at 4 per over today or slightly less (so a lead of 200 - 230 tonight), and then smash 70 - 100 off the first hour tomorrow, leaving Durham with 300 off 75 - 80.

So we haven't seen the emergence of Alsop,Weatherley,McManus and Wheal this summer then ?

funnily enough I went up to the Crem yesterday to tell my dad about what happening and got the feeling it wasn't going to work out
