You did? First half was boring, and I mentally switched off after Nani scored.

It was far more open than all of Portugal's other games.

I admit, that is a meaningless statement

It has probably been mentioned already - my first visit to this thread - but it is not a good look for the tournament that Portugal just had their first victory in the tournament, and they are through to the final.

They wouldn't've progressed beyond the group stages, with just the three draws, if it wasn't for the Round of 16 unevenness.
Maybe

It's a good point well made GJ.

Sums up a pretty dull tournament in my opinion, which has gone on way too long.

10 June to 10 July is a long time for a tournament that is secondary to the world cup.

Could learn a thing or two from the Olympics which is pretty much done and dusted in two weeks.

The stories of the tournament have all been the little teams stepping up. (Wales/Iceland)

But it does feel too long. Its at the business end and I have lost enthusiam for it. It is silly that a team can draw three times and go through a group in 3rd. The argument was it makes all three games relevant, which I think was a bonus, and you cant say the unbalanced knockouts didnt spring surprises.

But yes.... a round too long

The format does need looking at. Some group winners getting a third team place, and a couple getting runners up doesn't seem, and tbh isn't fair.

Yes and no. Had Iceland not scored that injury time winner vs Austria, Portugal would have gone through with just three draws under a format where only the top two progress (regardless of whether such format has 8, 16 or 32 teams).

And just because it was a winner in the final minute of ET, it doesn't mean that Portugal didn't record a victory against Croatia.
