Yorkshire successfully chasing some 300 runs at CLS in 2013 must be fresh in the Durham minds.

I think the fact that Durham have scored about 250 for the loss of 2 late order wickets is more likely for the line of thinking.

I would appear that the pitch, as someone here predicted on day 1, has flattened out and got good for batting.

Good to see at Lancs a young 19 year old spinner took a 5 for on debut....

Congratulations on being able to read pitch conditions from so afar.

I assumed Durham would want to give themselves a chance of winning the game. Maybe they will, but they made it harder for themselves. If they were looking for a draw, then, the declaration was a smart one.

Disappointed Gale decided to shut up shop at 3 down, maybe understandable though given Yorkshire don't have the usual depth lower down the order.

4.5 over on a pitch that Durham's last 2 wickets added 250. Assumption that Yorkshire might want to win the game was where Durham erred. It doesn't surprise me in the least that Gale didn't accept the challenge.
I'm actually at the game.

I've just looked at this season's averages for Yorkshire's top six so it's no surprise they were lukewarm to the challenge. Just doesn't seem a standout team in the 1st division.

Boyd Rankin in good form....really deserves better than to be a one test wonder.

Warwickshire well on top so rain comes along, been that way in a couple of games early in the season. Mind you if the batsmen supported the bowlers more often they would have more than one win to their name.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

He played his only Test injured. He did ok in his few ODIs for England and it was a bit surprising he didn't get more of an opportunity in limited overs games.

Notts really need Chris Read to get back from injury ASAP as he's been a steadying influence in the middle order. Already halfway though the season they are relegation candidates..
