Finns ability to get wickets with bad balls is uncanny

He rarely bowls well but always seems to get a wicket or two

Good resistance from SL.

If they keep this up they could end up with a first innings lead.

England are going to need those favorable northern conditions in London if they plan to win this series 3-0.

I think it's time to contemplate the prospect of having Bairstow in the squad but not as a wicket keeper. His mistakes will prove more costly against bigger teams.

It seems the sensible thing to do.

You'd expect a keeper to be having problems taking chances away from home, but not so much in home conditions. Late swing is just one of the hazards of the game in uk. But I don't see why he shouldn't be given time to improve, given the batting is going so well now.

He's missed a small trickle of chances all series. Probably a bit more than normal keeper error.

Someone on twitter said this is the first time he's kept wicket in a FC game at Lords. Is that right? If it is it might be a partial excuse for the drop. I agree with you - a work in progress as a keeper but he should be given the time to improve. The Times article on today's play mentions his keeping as a potential weakness but claims that the first test v Pakistan will see Borthwick replacing Compo at 3 rather than JB playing as a batsman only.

The nod seems to have been given regarding Compo, rather cynically (if so) with the game still in progress.

Not much sun around so maybe the bowlers will have slightly better conditions, unfortunately with a ball that's 49 overs old.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Time to bring in a keeper

bairstow should be a specialist batsman. There must be d better glove man in England.
