Alsop falling ill when he did hurt us, we were just looking to push on at that point. Wheater losing his wicket shortly after then made the situation worse. Dawson ended up greatly delaying his charge.

But mainly I'd put the defeat down to no Topley or Wood. They'd have been opening the innings and closing it for us. Berg and Andrew are solid pros, but 1st and 2nd change bowlers only. And no McLaren either, due to the ECB's bizarre 21 day rule (but to be honest, we did know about it).

Had Tino been in the team we'd have lost a whole lot earlier.

Oh yeah, that was nothing more than par really. I kept on pulling my hair out at some of the commentators, still stuck in another era, saying that we should be aiming for 260 - 270.

It's only scores of 330 or 340+ that shouldn't really be chased down.

I agree. Leicester very nearly chased down 340 today, they'd probably have cruised to anything under 330.

Looks like we're comfortably going to lose this game, eight bowlers used and only half way through the Middx innings. Our batting lineup looks pretty weak so I can't see us getting very close. The pants season continues!

I see James Franklin is captaining Middlesex. For some reason I thought he had retired!

At least we've started to pull them game back a bit in the last ten overs

Did well in the end to keep Middx below 300.

Joe Weatheley's list a debut went about as well as his championship debut against the same county.

I'd been thinking that D/L had properly screwed us, but actually until that wicket just then we were going alright. Thankfully Wheater is still there, and TRJ only has two overs (max) left, so it's still on.

But not now. Wheater stumped largely finishes this game off.

I guess when the game reverts to t20 it is what we're historically good at, but must admit after half way through the Middx innings I was preparing for a hammering!
