Bad news for the CMS pro-Surrey ranks.

I said on paper Surrey had a strong team and so they do but the jump to DIV 1 seems too much for some of them and even Sangakarra has given up the ghost recently. The return of Meaker from long tern injury will be welomed but their batsmen have got to buck up pretty quick.

Listening to Wheater the Hants wicket keeper on the radio this evening he made an interesting comment, that how much he and other players enjoy the fact that most of the test venues are in division one this year.

I assumed he was talking about the pleasure of playing in test arena's that the good and the great have trodden on and the opportunity it gives to get one's name on the same honours boad as such players.

Surrey seem to be viewed rather the same as Chelsea, people love to hate them. Surrey are a great failure considering their wealth and position, it's a hell of a long time since they produced an England test player. They seem to have a conduit to young SA players of wealthy parentage who injure easily.

Perhaps Will Smith can explain why promoted teams struggle.

The Roses match is a Topsy turvy affair - Yorkshire 220 ahead but 6 wickets down. Might be enough with their attack but there have been plenty of twists so far so I guess there'll be more to come.

I'd guess conditions are favourable for bowling, will be tough chasing whatever target is set.
