He's a far better keeper than Geraint Jones was.

Yeah all keepers misses chances, the key is really not to be seen or to make too many crucial mistakes.

Wonder what they will do in india, considering I reckon all English batting keepers would struggle and suspect the best keeper in county cricket to spinners would be an very average or awful batsman.

It's times like this I wish D/L was still with us, it would have been interesting to see how he'd have Yorkshired Bairstow out of the blame there.

I reckon the lights being on would be favourite. Then the ghost of Matt Prior's glove.

As for Buttler not playing in the LVCC, he's been in the IPL for the first 5 matches and was rested for the Roses match, given the cricket he's been playing that's not entirely an unreasonable decision.

Must surely be rest, can't be any other reason, by the way when is Lancashire next F/C game and how many you reckon Buttler would play this season.

JB did take nine catches in the first match. All standing back.
I always say that everybody's right.

BIllings is the best keeper in the country. His batting isn't good enough in first-class cricket to make the Test squad though.

TBH when the bowlers are in a roll, it is quite easy to take catches and sri lanka were giving catching practice, the real test was always gonna come when the batsman last more than 90 overs and keeping for more than a day.

He kept well in the first test, but wouldn't go crazy about it.

Although his footwork was better in the first test, but his footwork in this test poor again although was good in the first innings.
Got a feeling Bairstow always has to think about his footwork and which leg to put weight on that after a long day it gets harder for him to get it right.
when england bowling well and he is getting chances every few overs he can literally forget about the footwork and just concentrate on catching.
he looked more natural when england were getting wickets, while sri lanka scoring runs now keeping looks more difficult for Bairstow.

does billing keep to spinners well, hopefully billings spent loads of time in the nets during the ipl keeping to the spinners would have improved his keeping loads.

Bairstow does seem to drop the ball quite often, during routine deliveries, so it's not a surprise that he's missing important chances more than he should, when they arise.
