In an era without Stokes, Bairstow and Ali at 6/7/8, or one where Finn, Onions and Kerrigan were (there but for the ....) 9/10/11, then Woakes would likely to be in the test side

Used to be a red ball specialist. But he's probably nearer the limited overs side now. Not sure he's been used all that sensibly. But that tour of SA will keep him out of the Test side for a while.

Yorkshire's opening game against Hampshire - was an excellent knock when the ball was doing all sorts in the first two sessions, not just swing but uneven bounce.

Bairstow's 246 might have grabbed the headlines, but Lyth's 111 was more valuable.
