A smart move given so much time has been lost to the weather, some quick fire scoring to get Yorkshire into the lead plus enough time to bowl Nottinghamshire out and knock off the runs to win the game.

Easier said than done mind.

Jackson Bird has bowled Willey, so Plunkett has justified his position.

Given the conditions, this game has the potential to move on quickly.

Game advancing nicely at Trent Bridge, Yorkshire 290 all out (a lead of 29) and Willey gets an early wicket of Mullaney as Notts are 16-1.

The new ball doing all sorts, can Yorkshire cash in?

Wessels goes. If Yorks gets one of Read or Samit tonight, they'll be well on top.

Zafar Ansari looks as if he's suffered a reoccurrence of the thumb injury that kept him out of the England winter tours. Got hit on it and " collapsed in a heap " according to Martin Emmerson.

A good day for Yorkshire in all, though Notts are not out of it by any stretch. Anything above 225 may prove tricky to chase on a wicket that has enough for the bowlers.

Maybe 150. A bit of a (Broadesque) run with the new ball could turn the momentum of the game.

Looks like a good last day in prospect.

It happened before on Good Friday 2011, but in a scenario where Yorkshire were near certain of victory.

Read and Broad milking the Yorkshire spin bowlers at well as Notts reach 250 and lead by 221.

Stunning catch from Adam Lyth in the slips to dismiss Broad. Looked like the bottom edge was to fly over the cordon but Lyth somehow managed to get both hands on it.

Wickets in the current CC games.

Anderson 3
Broad 0
Finn 3
Stokes 5
Moeen 0

As a fourth seamer, Stokes is having a good game (more wickets than his esteemed Durham pace colleagues), but the others, not so much. Test players often seem to get outbowled by their county colleagues. Are they really worth picking? How motivated are they?

Its a shame Nasher is 32 now, if he was 2 years younger he might be playing for a test cap this summer. FC average of 39, starting off the year with 119, 92, 86* in his first two games..... probably the player with the next best average of openers that have been untested.
