Was Ribery and Lahm really past it in 13/14? Still had a fit Schweinsteiger, Muller, Kroos, Robben, Neuer. They all played when they lost 4-0 to Real at home. The contrast to the team that played the year before was amazing.

Pep pretty much got to choose any team in the world to manage. He chose Bayern who were the most dominant team the season before. This was the team the year before who had beaten Juventus 4-0 and Barcelona 7-0 on aggregate.

In saying all this, Bayern are back in it, and if they now go on to win this tie, then Peps record will get better[/quote]

Ribery has not started more than 30 games in a year for an age. 5 league matches this year, a handful last year, and was struggling the year before.... he also had personal matters off field with a 15 year old prostitute that guardiola walked in on. Clearly had his last world class year before

Robben similar story....never full fit, missed half the last few seasons

Lahm....not played 30 league starts under pep. Had injury troubles hence he retired from Germany in 2014

Schiensteiger was finished 18 months ago....

Kroos was sold under him nearly two years ago over a pay dispute that the chairman personally got involved with.

That 18/1 shot at half time looking good.

Anyone watching at 2-0 would have took it....if this was a boxing match the ref would have stopped a while back...25% possession for juve and 50% of that is when the goalie has it

I was asking the question for the 13/14 season. Comparing to the previous years performance when Bayern where the best team in Europe by to so much that they beat Barca 7-0 on aggregate.

For the 13/14 season Ribbery played 39 times that season(10 in europe), Lahm 46 time(12 in europe), Schweinsteiger 36 times(8 in europe) and he was still oh so very good, Robben 45 times (10 in europe) and the most he has ever played in a season for Bayern.

Peps needs to win the champions league with Bayern

You can't expect them to win every year!!! Has anyone apart from his Barcelona team done back to back? In fact, did even they do it?

They have not. The last team was maybe the Dutch Milan?

In my view though, the Bayern team of 12/13 were the best placed team to achieve this.

Bayern done well to come back but Juve had a good goal disallowed for off-side, which would have made it 0-3, and game done.

At least it strengthens our case for keeping four CL places and we could still have the prospect of a Barcelona v Bayern match up.

Easy wins for Bayern and Real Madrid.

Barca v Atletico and Man City v PSG are very tasty ties.
