Don't worry Sussex no need to get so uptight (again!), your lot are pretty safe the way it stands right now. In a strange way I'll be slightly relieved to get back down to division 2 next season, might win a few more games!

Hampshire made the choice to try and set up a target.

I heard that Gale was keen to set up a contrived game at the end of day three, so it wasn't as if Hants were forcing it on him by agreeing to anything.

I deplore contrivance in cricket.

It's the single thing that annoys me most about county cricket, as yet again, the people who actually pay to watch cricket are forced to accept another diminished product.

still........ I've done this over and over again, and hardly anyone agrees with me, so I don't know why I mentioned it

Its an issue I have been pretty consistent with regardless of what team it happens to, but yes, it annoys me more when its relegation status for Sussex potentially effected.

I heard that Gale was keen to set up a contrived game at the end of day three, so it wasn't as if Hants were forcing it on him by agreeing to anything.

Yorkshire were under no obligation to try to win the game even if there was an agreement. And Hampshire got (by memory) a day to bowl them out.

We did have a day to bowl them out, but the flatness of the pitch meant Yorks had to score at 3 runs an over so never had to take any risks. Once the shine was off the new ball it was a comfortable chase. If I had been Vince, and that final day option was all Yorks would offer, I would have said stuff it and taken the easy 7 points.

But he didn't, and he was not forced to make that choice. Seems a little strange to be whinging about a deal Hampshire willingly walked into.

Bloody hell, Yorkshires tail just got blown away this morning. Shaky batting line up most of the season needs to put some runs on the board now.

:hmmm He tends to bat one way, and that is the fast way. Not sure why they would elevate him, plenty of time left in this one without needing an opener to pinch hit a few overs, unless this is a tactic to lose top order wickets for less effective batsman with the new ball? Confusing strategy none the less.

Be a sad day when he retires, which I expect he will at the end of next year.

Assume there is a problem with Nash, as Machan is in at 3....

Jordan lasts an over, Nash in no so maybe not..... Seems like another great batting attempt is under way.
